The broadband provider Sky has been honoured as the best broadband for speed value. The rating was based on the typical download speed offered by each provider in relation to the cost of each package. It was the 8Mb Mid Broadband package of Sky Broadband that achieved the first position and it costs £1.14 for each Mb of the actual speed attained.

The study conducted using the standard speeds from Ofcom’s recent research found that other providers of ISP like Plusnet Broadband, Tiscali Broadband and Virgin Media costs less than £1.50 per MB, whereas TalkTalk Broadband and O2 Broadband came at less than £2 per MB. BT came last in the list costing £2.93 per MB.

Telecoms regulator Ofcom’s recent research found out an average speed of 4.1Mb all over the UK in contrast to the standard advertised speed of 7.1Mb. At present Virgin media offered the fastest speed at up to 50Mb in the UK and they deliver highest actual speeds of 8.1Mb to 8.7Mb typically.  O2 was given the second position scoring an average speed of 4.1Mb to 5.1Mb and Sky managed to achieve third place with an average of 4.0Mb to 4.7Mb.

Researchers said that Sky’s Mid Broadband package of £5 per month and its Sky Talk was relatively inexpensive than O2 and Virgin Media’s deals and offered improved speed value.
