Satellite broadband with 2MB speed
The introduction of advanced service in satellite broadband has come a bit closer to making Lord Carter’s dream of universal broadband a reality. Eutelsat Communications, a satellite operator have taken initiative to provide 2Mb speed all over the UK, with a monthly charge of £29.99. The company is able to offer this service with the advanced Tooway technology.
By 2010 Eutelsat, expects to offer 10 Mb speeds, which is 2 years prior to Lord Carter’s goal of availing 2Mb speed to all homes. This first satellite two-way broadband service, intends to provide equal speeds and costs, when compared to ADSL. Rural areas and those living in “slowbands” are the targeted group, to whom this service will be provided.
Eutelsat director of multimedia and value added services, Arduino Patacchini, claims that Lord Carter’s dream of digital Britain will soon become a reality with Tooway and transforms the consume market for satellite internet access. With the proper utilization of the existing infrastructure, Tooway is capable of providing a perfect broadband experience. This technology is capable of offering ultimate cost efficient services to areas that come under digital divide, he added.
All this is available at £29.99, which is basic package and with allowance of 1.2GB and is considered to be bit expensive. On the other side installation and hardware costs proves to be high.
