O2 to Benefit from Partnership with BT
February 4, 2010
At last O2 decided to have touch with BT, once its parent company. In a recent agreement signed on partnership, both decided to work together for growth and prosperity. On the basis of harmony, now onwards, the O2’s networks in Britain will be maintained and upgraded by BT.
O2, at present run by Telefonica- a Spanish telecoms company, was owned by BT until 2001. The new agreement will see O2 enter the market with fixed lines, something it lacked so far.
The new multi-million project is on a five year agreement. With this, BT will be responsible for developing and maintaining O2’s networks which include advanced 3G network also. Now, O2 has some air for improving its quality of service, concentrating more on improving their technology.
The need for the collaboration seems blessing to O2. Last year, there were some complaints about their lack of worth in 3G service. The increased use of iPhones has considerably reduced O2’s 3G performance. Now that BT has given hand, O2 can improve its performance for good.
Nigel Purdy, chief of networks at O2 says that the collaboration is just a step considering the need for advancement in communication technology. This will help O2 to provide better service for the customers in the future.
