NORTH Cotswold schools looks for cut backs on their Broadband Charges

0

Schools, based in the North Cotswold, with a high rise in their broadband costs, receive words of comfort from Gillian Hayward, the chairman of Gloucestershire Schools Forum, in charge of the new announced cost changes. Gillian informed that they were planning for ways to lessen the blow, due to the high costs, for 2010.

However, she goes on to claim that the schools must not anticipate a “drastic change”, in the financial year of 2010. She also said that it should not reach the ears of the drawing board.

Mrs. Hayward reports that schools are usually allotted an amount of funds to be used for the charges of broadband. She also says that some structure has been established as a result of which, smaller schools can trade some money with the bigger schools, in response for some profit funding, which we can use to pay the broadband charges.

Meanwhile, a journal reported in April, that some of the primary schools, in the North Cotswolds declined to shell out money for their broadband bill, which has further grown six or seven-fold. The Schools, with serious issues includes St David’s in Moreton, Stow Primary School, St Catharine’s in Chipping Campden and Temple Guiting Primary.

Head Teacher of St.Cathrine’s in Chipping Camden, Mike Sessarego had announced that the school may have to go into debit in 2010, in an attempt to pay the bill. David Ogden, the Head Teacher at Temple Guiting Primary School adds on that it could result in the finishing of certain schools, in the rural areas.

Mrs. Hayward said that she understood the importance of a legitimate bond. The money has to be compensated in some way. However, a new agreement is introduced from September, which allows further elasticity and also could result in extra funds.

Further details on the contract, she added would reach the Forum this week and she would convey the same to alleviate the discomfort of the head teachers. The Gloucestershire County Council, as per the new cost measures, is renewing the broadband expenses, based on the real cost other than the former method of charge for each student.
