Majority of the people unaware of broadband limits
It comes as a shock rather than surprise that nine out of ten people do not actually know about the usage limits on their broadband packages as per a recent study. The study conducted by uSwitch reported that around one million have crossed or reached their usage limits provided by ISP.
On the other hand nearly 6.2 million people were using the broadband thinking that they are linked to the unlimited broadband package that is free of cost. uSwitch has considered the range of ISPs and their advertising methods of which majority of the providers hide their limits in the shade of other enhanced service.
Sky has been identified as the only ISP to instigate a genuine unlimited broadband service that existed under the name Sky Max. Companies other than Sky providers offer limited plans in disguise of unlimited plans. The included companies form 56 per cent of major ISPs of which two are exceptional.
uSwitch communications head, Mr. Tim Wolfenden stated that the companies should step back from this kind of practice unless and until it really offers unlimited broadband. The customers are deceived by the providers to that large extent and they are unaware of their broadband limits.
Recent news states that Old ham and Suffolk will be the first areas to benefit from the Broadband for All scheme. Estimated cost that will be incurred for this project will be £300 million for providing broadband to low income families.
