Innovation in the UK broadband
When plans are moving to install fibre-optic cables to offer super-fast broadband connections to the UK homes; research finds that the innovation is rather a necessity in a developed country like Britain. In a list of the countries with speedy broadband, the UK comes only 26th.
Although many agencies and providers claim that the country have 4.1 megabits per second availability in average, studies proved that the figure is just 3.5 Mbps.
The seriousness could be felt when people come to know that, in some countries of Asia, people enjoy more reliable and fast connections. When South Korea gets a super fast 14.6 Mbps connection, Japan enjoys 7.9 Mbps connection and Hong Kong possesses a fair 7.6 Mbps connection. Some countries in Europe like Sweden with 5.7 Mbps and the Netherlands with 5.2 Mbps topped the UK in average speeds.
Though developed countries from Asia dominated the list of the nations with top broadband speeds; Sandy in Utah, USA is found as the city with world’s fastest connection enjoying high downloading speed of 33.4 Mbps.
Showing a 13 per cent growth in the average, the global speed rose to 1.7 Mbps, still with the fact that about 73 countries have only less than 1 Mbps speed.
All these figures back Britain’s intentions to spend £1 billion on fibre-optic cables to provide fast and reliable connection even to the rural areas of the nation. The benefits of the scheme are estimated to reach more than 90 per cent of the UK people. The innovation seems to be a matter of pride considering the developments already had happened worldwide.
