BT reports that various homes and businesses spread around the Devon area is expected to benefit from the faster ‘next generation’ broadband due on launch by next spring. The BT venture will help to roll out broadband packages with speed up to 24 Mb/ s. This is over twice the maximum speeds available earlier to the majority of the UK homes and businesses.

According to the report, BT’s pioneering 21st Century Network (21 CN) has plans to launch in 24 South- West communities. They include the Bideford, the Honiton and the Sidmouth.

Meanwhile, BT is looking to launch these higher speed services to exchanges serving about 75% of the UK, by spring, next year. This spans around 20 million homes and businesses.

All broadband service providers will also have access to the network in an open, wholesale basis.
