Doubts are spread pertaining to the execution of d. According to the new Communications Minister, Stephen Timms there is uncertainness regarding the execution of this levy before the expected general election in the next spring.

The whole idea behind £6 per year landline tax was intended to raise a fund of £150 million per year to sponsor next generation super fast broadband network in the UK. Nevertheless the conservatives, expected to win the next general election is not in favour with the tax from the very beginning and are not likely to pursue it if they are not yet executed.

In the Lord Carter’s Digital Britain report, the tax was a highlight but he has left the government. Timms, who took his place, said that he was unclear about the implementation of the levy for this side of election.

The tax will be probably incorporated in the finance bill of the following march’s budget but before the coming election. Timms said that arguable things will be considered afterwards. During his talk to Sunday Times, he hinted that Ofcom is likely to be given power to break on illegal file sharing by means of slowing down the offenders connections and jamming few websites very soon, but after an appeal from rights owners.
