Consumers change broadband
A latest report has exposed that the number of Britons who switched their broadband provider increased by 5% in 2006 when matched up against with the previous year. It has been estimated that more than ten million Britons make use of telecoms and broadband services provided by a non-BT firm, whereas the average cost of broadband came down by two-thirds between 2005 and 2006.
The chief executive of Ofcom, Ed Richards mentioned that the UK has one of the most competitive markets anywhere in the world. A publication from Ofcom suggested that British customers are profiting from the increased choice in the broadband market, with three in five able to pick a provider from at least four options. The report from Ofcom was published as part of its annual report into the compliance of BT Broadband with the resolutions the two organisations agreed in 2005.
According to a recent data provided by the European research body Eurostat, it is known that 57% of the UK households at present use the internet with a broadband connection.
