Business Leaders in Dorset back Fibre Broadband Plans
Latest reports say that the Dorset based business leaders are backing the government’s plans according to which next generation super-fast fibre optic broadband internet cable will be installed across the area.
The business leaders that have thrown their weight behind the next generation broadband rollout plans of the government belong to The Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Tourism. The body has been reported to be keen to ensure that the installation of fresh networks as part of the 2012 London Olympics preparations are manitained for long even after the event’s ending.
The local newspaper Dorset Echo has reported that with a view to ideally back up the proposals, a survey has been launched where businesses and homes can register their support until the last day of January.
The chamber’s president, Nigel Reed said to the newspaper that securing the equipment in the local exchanges was the most significant thing and they had to make sure that they maintained them there ideally. He added that this would obviously be a benefit from the London Olympics.
It is also worth mentioning here that the government of the United Kingdom has already launched a fresh next generation broadband fund that would be used to materialise the introduction of superfast fibre optic broadband internet service to 90 per cent of the country by 2017.
