BT has claimed 2010 will be “an exciting year” for investment in fibre optic broadband technology

Ian Livingston, the chief executive of BT claims that 2010 is expected to be an exciting year for internet browsers in lieu of the launch of fibre optic cable broadband services throughout the UK.  He reports in a column of ‘Daily Mail’, that the super-fast technology is being provided to 80,000 houses a week, even as they increase the speed of the connection available.

Meanwhile, BT also confirmed recently that the number of homeowners that have the fibre optic broadband services at home include Essex, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Lincolnshire.  However, Ian went on to add that if rural areas were to benefit from fibre optic cable networks, finances was the vital criteria.  He also proposed that we would require a support of £1 billion from the various sources.

According to Ian’s report, the sum quoted is much less in comparison to the amount depleted by overseas governments, as well as the expenses devoted to the water networks or ploughed into transport. He concludes the report with a claim that certainty was the key aspect, despite the winner at the next elections.
