Broadband Speed Test in Wiltshire
February 6, 2010
Wiltshire County Council is planning to conduct a home based broadband speed test to find how fast the connection is running in their province. All the residents of the county will be urged to take part in the test so as to calculate the average.
The council says that, at first the connection speed currently available for the homes will be surveyed in separate local divisions, all the residents would be encouraged to join in this. The results from the minor areas will be joined together to find the average speed enjoyed by the county.
The speed test is to ensure that Wiltshire is also concerned in the Government’s development ventures. The results of the test will decide whether the county is included in the broadband speed revolution happening throughout the country.
Cabinet member for economic development, planning and housing, John Brady mentioned that, a reliable broadband connection with good speed is necessary for the economic growth of a vast province like Wiltshire. He added that, the speed test will make sure that Wiltshire is also enjoying the benefits that other counties enjoy in the sector of technological developments.
