3 and T-Mobile sign agreement with Nokia Siemens to expand its broadband network
3 and T-Mobile, in a bid to maximize the reach of 3G mobile broadband services have signed an agreement with manufacturer Nokia Siemens Networks. The two service providers, as per the Mobile-Broadband-Network (MBNL) joint venture is expected to be customary in their attempt to upgrade the complete network by end of this year.
The agreement worth £400 million with Nokia is expected to source the expenses for the 3G radio network infrastructure; mobile network planning, implementation, optimisation and maintenance
The chief Technology officer of 3 and T-Mobile, Graham Baxter reports that the deal with Nokia will aid MBNL in its aim to establish Europe’s largest HSDPA network in record timescales. He added that they were looking to quickly allow excellent customer experience.
Meanwhile, Emin Gurdenli, the Technical Director at T-Mobile also commented that network performance was expanding to be a more and more important competitive differentiator. He claims this as a result of the high-speed mobile broadband becoming an alternative for fast, simple internet access. However, according to the firm, T-Mobile’s ongoing agreement with Orange, the rival mobile broadband provider is not expected to have any effect on the MBNL.
