Defining the speed or transfer rates of unlimited broadband
Expressions such as Mb, Meg, Kb, GB and Gig are a lot baffling, often exasperating a common web user a great deal. This usually refers to the speed estimated every second throughout the information transmission.
The smallest unit estimated is the Kilobit, regularly mentioned as Kb in print. 512kb is the least possible data transmission rate referred to, in terms of unlimited broadband connections. It is in fact 512kb for each sec.
Kilobit is a term used to refer to upload pace and also slow download speeds.
Next measurement that follows is the mbps or Meg. Meanwhile, One megabit includes 1024kb. This is commonly used for services with download speeds of equal to or exceeding 1Mb.
Here again, not to overlook mention is of 1MB for a second.
Sometimes, the download access field may show 1 gigabyte which is in actuality 1024 megabyte. A megabyte means eight times one megabit. A gigabyte also means a Gig and is quite often written as GB.
Unlimited broadband mentioning a download speed of GB is mainly useful for accessing large or massive data online or even downloading huge attachments or streaming videos and films on the web.
Do bear in mind that a Gig download is usually the quantity of information accessed and not a transmission speed.
