BE Broadband Anxious about Google’s High Speed Broadband
February 19, 2010
As expected, no more than within a fortnight after commence, Google’s super-fast 1GB broadband became a subject of talk in the UK. The noteworthy among the accusers is BE Broadband.
The super-fast fibre network set by search engine giant, Google will initially give 1 GB broadband connection to at least 50000 homes in selected areas of the US. It is said that, the primary network is capable of giving connection to 500000 homes.
This revolutionary stride could give at least 20 times faster connections. If the initial step is found to be successful, the connection will soon be running all over and then, introduction of the connection in the UK is also inevitable.
If Google becomes serious in this case and starts introducing 1 GB fibre broadband in the UK, it will pave way for a good competition with the existing providers.
Although the news sounds good, there arise so many anxieties in the UK, especially from different broadband providers. Tom Williams, head of operations at BE Broadband commented that, the new project from Google has sure got something bad to do in the world of internet.
In the official blog of BE Broadband he stated that, although better broadband connections with greater speeds are welcome, the chance for the monopoly of a single company over the internet should be watched with fear.
Alinna Chung, BE’s Online product manager also shows the similar feelings to the matter. She too mentioned that, it is good to have better broadband connections, but the idea of domination of a single hand is not good. She concluded that, for a much free life, its good to choose different services from different providers.
Tom Williams speaks as if he is rather concerned about what the UK can do for itself. He said that he is strongly in favour for the BT’s decision to open up its ducts so that other providers can have access. BE’s head of operations also added that, this will sure bring some competitions and developments so that home providers can offer super fast broadband connections.
