‘No more safe websites’ – this warning has been given to all the broadband users recently. Kevin Hogan of internet security organisation Symantec Security Response commented that the users should be cautious of all the prospective terrorization created by all the sites when browsing the web.
He also mentioned that it is no longer the case that people can abstain from visiting specific kinds of sites, for instance gambling and porn websites in order to ensure that they stay protected on the internet.
Mr. Hogan stated that the concept of there being a good and bad neighbourhood on the web is in fact vanished and any prospective website could have been seized unknown to you and also even the organisation running the website.

Orange and MGM comes together

One of the leading broadband providers Orange has signed a contract with MGM and according to the deal the subscribers of Orange can see classic and present-day MGM films delivered to customers using its video-on-demand service.
Subscribers who choose for an Orange broadband digital television or high-speed internet package from them will be able to access the classic movies. The classics include titles like Casino Royale, Silence of the Lambs and Rocky by means of the 24/24 video facility. Orange customers in France, Spain and Poland can enjoy this benefit and soon the UK subscribers will be getting this benefit.
At present the 24/24 Video has a catalogue of more than 3,000 films accessible for 24-hour rental, with the charges starting at €1 (72p) for selected movies.
Orange launched an initiative in partnership with the British Academy of Film & Television Arts last year that saw aspirant filmmakers submit short films that lasts for a maximum of 60 seconds to a contest that ultimately led to members of the public select their favourite one.
UK broadband on the rise

A latest study has exposed that the use of broadband in UK is increasing rapidly. Telecoms regulator Ofcom, in its recent International Communications Market report pointed out that more than half of all British houses had a broadband connection at the end of last year and this is a higher percentage than that found in the US.
It has been found out that there was a tremendous increase in the use of unlimited broadband as the people taking up new connections grew at a rate of over 600% between the year 2001 and 2006 in the UK.
Ed Richards, chief executive of Ofcom stated that the report illustrates that convergence, bundling and the move to digital communications is a powerful global phenomenon. The organisation released a report last month that suggested that broadband take-up has seen a considerable rise among the over-65 age group in the past 12 months.
Consumers change broadband

A latest report has exposed that the number of Britons who switched their broadband provider increased by 5% in 2006 when matched up against with the previous year. It has been estimated that more than ten million Britons make use of telecoms and broadband services provided by a non-BT firm, whereas the average cost of broadband came down by two-thirds between 2005 and 2006.
The chief executive of Ofcom, Ed Richards mentioned that the UK has one of the most competitive markets anywhere in the world. A publication from Ofcom suggested that British customers are profiting from the increased choice in the broadband market, with three in five able to pick a provider from at least four options. The report from Ofcom was published as part of its annual report into the compliance of BT with the resolutions the two organisations agreed in 2005.
According to a recent data provided by the European research body Eurostat, it is known that 57% of the UK households at present use the internet with a broadband connection.
