BT rewards for the “innovative use of Wi-Fi connectivity”

October 8, 2007

BT, one of the leading broadband service providers in the UK has opened up a competition named as “Developer Challenge Competition” to find out the best mobile phone application that uses a Wi-Fi connection. They are putting their effort to find out what such connections are for.

This competition is open to all who can put together a Symbian application. The reward for the winner is £1K. The evaluating norms of the contest embrace “innovative use of Wi-Fi connectivity”. BT broadband is trying to find innovative things for the people to do over their BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots.

The latest models of mobile phones support Wi-Fi connectivity but do not have VoIP. 802.11g is to some extent too much for remote-controlling the stereo, and it’s not often that one finds oneself with a Wi-Fi connection, a call for to surf, and no notebook close at hand.

As long as your entry can set up on a S60 or UIQ device, version 3 or above, then it can be entered into the contest - assuming it uses Wi-Fi.
